i need help to recover data from my hard drive. here's my case, i was installing winxp during installation i accidentally unpartitioned my data drive. then after successfully installing winxp, i partitioned the data drive because it wasn't registered. i used partition magic 7. then after that winxp has seen my data drive as an empty drive. how can i recover the data from my hard disk?

Ontrack makes some decent file recovery software that seems to get good reviews, although I've never used it. Personally, I use Winternals Disk Commander, but that is probably price prohibitive for your needs. It's paid for itself, though. Good luck, it's a crap shoot if you've partitioned, reformatted and written over the data already. If you did the Quick Format, you'll be in much better shape.
