I just got a new motherboard and it has 3 dimms for memory. Two are next to eachother and one is slightly separated. I know you put one stick of dual channel in the separated one and one in one of the two that are next to eachother. Can you then add a third stick or does this reduce the performance. I hope this makes sense. I have a MSI K7N2 Delta mobo
You can add a third stick and dual DDR would still be in effect. In order to keep the entire amount of memory in Dual DDR access mode, balance the memory across the two channels. 1x256MB+1x256MB, 1x512MB+1x512MB and 2x256MB+1x512MB are examples.

Yeah, it's kind of confusing. One of the memory controllers has one memory slot while the other memory controller has two memory slots associated with it. The two memory slots that appear close together represent one channel and the distant looking memory slot represents the other channel. Two channels in all.
