About 6 months ago, I bought a 200gig Maxtor drive, and at Windows install, to format 200 gigs in 1 partition, I must connect it to the RAID controller and use the third party disk, otherwise it can't see anything more than 133 gigs. Does this also apply to the new SATA drives over 130 gigs? Would they automatically be able to format at their max capacity, or would I need to use a third party disk?

I`m afraid so.And only by third party tools you can use it.You know the normal chipset only can support disk under 133GB.But you can try to set no disk in the bios, and boot into the win2000/xp(surely make the big drive second disk),let the system deal with it.But it may not work.
