I want to buy a laptop for home use. I can pay about 1000$. What do you recommend? What are your ideas about Dell 6400?
which points are important for buying notebook?
The 6400 isn't a bad laptop. Other choices would include the DV6000 and DV2000 series from HP. The most important thing to look for in a laptop, is that it meets all of YOUR needs. By home use I am going to assume you mean word processing and internet use with limited graphic use (ie: DVDs and light gaming). If that is the case a lower range dual core from either Intel or AMD would fit well. A 5400rpm HDD would be fine for your uses too. 1-2 gigs of RAM is recommend with Vista. If you want minor gaming look for a laptop that has a dedicated graphics card like a Go7400 or X1400. Stay away from integrated graphics like Intel GMA 900/950 and ATi express chips, they will consume system resources and limit performance. Also, does screen size matter to you as well as resolution?
Thanks Lostandwandering for guidance.
Gaming is not important at all.
Of course, copying images from digital camera to laptop sometimes, is important. Screen size about 14-15" is good. Also, I use Autocad(not in profressional level) sometimes.
Word processing, internet are used more.
Ok then. The Dell and both HPs would handle all of your tasks. If you are doing some CAD stuff, I would recommend getting a dedicated card and staying away from integrated and Xpress chips.
P.S. you can find discount coupons for Dell online. Just google "dell coupons".
