The tape / channel switch has failed on the overbridge for a mackie 32 . 8

Removing the switch and bringing out a pair of wires (for testing) restores
functionality.

Has anyone who has had this problem and subsequently replaced the switch
with a factory exact replacement suffered a reoccurrence of the same
problem?

No reason for it. But where do you think you're going to get the exact
replacement? Think Mackie has one?

The only reason to use the exact replacement is cosmetic. If you can't
get the exact switch, put something else in and cut to fit. You're
lucky if this is the only problem you've had with that console.

some days i feel lucky. mackie kindly sent me a ribbon cable kit no-charge.
the meter lamps have burned out. that's about it on problems.

the previous owner keeped it sealed in a giant mason jar and mildly
pressurized with dry inert gas when not in use (or something like that)
