I voted for Dell. My family uses 2 Dell Dimensions, 2 Inspirons and one Dell LCD TV. Noe have ever given us any major problems and the minor ones were easily and quickly resolved through their tech support(contrary to what most people say). On the flip side, I have had no personal experience with Acer, but have heard mixed reviews.

I said Acer... because I don't like Dell.

What will you be using your laptop for? And what are the specs for each system? (You said they're both the cheapest... but I'm sure they vary in configuration)
