I am presently mixing on an SSl and need to rewrite the MF on fades. I
enter MF and assign it to absolute to the computer, but it doesn't
override previous fades and acts as a trim.
Any ideas what the problem might be?

Sounds like its dropping back to trim.

1. Select MF
2. Toggle MF to Abs
3. Hit copy to lock the FSM.

This should do it.
I'm not infront of one right now, but I seem to remember that's how it
goes.
Is the SSL driving the tape transport?
