Hi all, new here and not sure if this is a valid area to post.
I've encountered a recent error and I know nothing about it. My PC goes to the blue screen of death and haults while displaying:
***HARDWARE MALFUNCTION***
CALL YOUR HARDWARE VENDOR FOR SUPPORT
NMI: PARITY CHECK/MEMORY PARITY ERROR
***THE SYSTEM HAS HAULTED***

The only thing I have done recently to my computer is install an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB video card. Is this what the error is refering to? The computer operates fine, it's just that sometimes when I am tabbig programs or logging out, it gives this error.

I apologize if this is the incorrect area to ask such a question. And I thank you for any insight you may provide.

Follow instructions, and call your hardware vendor for support.



This is not the best of places if you are looking for a serious response. As you are suspecting your graphics card, you might go to that section and see if they can help you out.

That is exactly what that message means it is a Harware fault. That message displays all the time on graphics card failures. As to why it is failing well you need to make sure it's installed properly first then call your hardware vendor.

And what gave you the impression that he would ever listen to you? He never listens to anyone. And honestly, I rather see the crap he posted here, than that Pyramid or Knights Templar crap he posts elsewhere.

Correction: I would rather not see any of his crap at all, but I have no way of filtering it out without being virtually shut out from the majority of threads here.

It would not be so bad if most people would ignore it but there's always someone reacting to it, and thus another fine topic gets derailed.
