You mean $1235....I just had a similar thing happen on eBay. This is
usually done by international buyers IMHO. I suspect that it may be due
to restrictions on some manufacturers/dealers from shipping certain
electronic goods to other countries.

Possibly, but in this case the buyer and seller are both from the USA.

($1235 winning bid, as previously corrected)
On one hand, I like to think that it shows the excellent resale value of
my equipment. On the other hand, it may just show the craziness of Ebay.
Even the 2nd-highest bidder was willing to go to $1210.
The winning bidder may have been willing to go even higher than his
winning bid of $1235 since Ebay does the proxy-bid thing, only raising
your bid to the bare minimum above the previous high bid, in this case
$25 above the previous high bid. Maybe there is crack stashed inside
(just kidding - no offense meant to seller or buyer).

Well, I may drop the winning bidder a note, just out of curiosity.
Runner-up as well. Someone sold a 990C op-amp on Ebay for more than the
price of a new one a couple of months ago. Strange place, Ebay.
