Help. I figure there must be a lot of people that know more than me
about making music with their Mac Mini. I already have a good FMR
preamp and I don't expect to track more than 2 inputs at once so my
needs are very basic. I imagine I would choose my interface primarily
on the quality of the a/d convertors. The output of the built in
headphone amp would be a consideration. Free software might sway me.
The M-Audio FireWire Audiophile looks good for the price except the RCA
only inputs give me cause for pause. Midi inputs (a single I/O is fine)
would be a plus. T M-Audio Ozonic might answer all my needs though I do
have a midi keyboard. Is anyone out there excited about their
interface? Does anyone know when Apple will launch "Asteroid" and if
it's worth waiting for? Thanks for your posts. Kirk

I like the maudio a lot for the money. I ahve a FW1814 but I track
entire bands. If you need less, you can pick up a fw410 for only a few
hundred bucks (i think they're about 2 or 3 now). The nice thing is
they are compatible with pro tools if down the road you ever decide
you'd like to go that route (i bought mine specifically for pro tools).
I have a 1.4ghz 1gb ram mac mini and everything runs swimmingly.

Presonus FireBox or Edirol FA-66. Either have much better pres and
converters than M-Audio.
