I'm getting ready to make the jump from Windows 98 SE to XP Professional, and I have a quick question regarding the install procedure.
My system uses a Plextor CD-ROM drive (SCSI), and when I did my 98 install, I used a special boot floppy with some temporary SCSI drivers (so that DOS would recognize my CD-ROM drive). The boot disc was available from Adaptec (I use a 29160 SCSI card).
But since XP doesn't rely on DOS, how do I get my system to recognize the CD-ROM drive after formatting my boot drive (I plan to do a fresh install)?
Perhaps when I do the install, I will have the option of having XP format the drive. If this is the case, then the system should already recognize the SCSI drive prior to the installation.
In BIOS you say "Boot from SCSI", in SCSI you say boot from device #... (whatever ID it sits on) or CD ROM (whatever the option is there, depends on SCSI utility you have)
..this is very useful and helpful place for information...
