NO, and as far as i know, you can only create a USB drive for windows installation, not install windows into it.

The goal is to create a small foot rprint computer that has limited access to the internet and a few other utlity type programs that boots from a usb pen drive. We would that buy an embedd licencse for each machine but have copies of the usb with each machine that could be swapped out quickly and easily in case of corruption of the drive.

Why do you say there is no such thing as windows seven standard embedded? I have got it right here next to me.

We have been able to use a USB drive as the deployment media. But not as the bootable primary drive on the computer.

well...i got windows 7 embedded on this page-
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/evaluate...

look at the 'Right level of componentization' field in the table. there's a mention of USB boot....i don't have much idea of it, but i guess it might solve your problem. wait for responses of other members though.
