looking for a set of 5.1 speakers for around 200, (actuall price off pricegrabber ect, not list) and was wondering if you guys had any sugestions. I'm looking at the logitech z680's and megaworks 550's but some of the reviews I read about the 550 say that they have a tendency to die...
I'd appreciate any suggestions or feedback on these two
thanks alot
Hey, probably won't get you anywhere, but i was also planning on going with the logitech z-680 when i get a new system in about 2 weeks. I have yeat to read a bad review of them. anyone with this system care to comment?
Get the 550's!! I've had mine for 3 months now and they are awesome! I listened to the Klipsch pro media 5.1's and logtiech 680's at best buy, and these sound just as good and are WAY cheaper( I got mine at newegg for $216 ). IMO the logitech's are a little too bassy but if you like that then go for it. As for the speakers dying, there are always going to be a few bad apples, espeically with something like high wattage speakers. I didn't get the Klipsch's cause they did have a serious problem that Klipsch formally recognized and corrected earlier this year. I read a BUNCH of complaints about pro media's overheating, dying, clicking, not working etc. and best buy has even stopped carrying them cause of so many returns. I did alot of research on the 680's, 550's and pro medias and I think that either the 680's or 550's would make you happy with both their sound and reliablity, but my recommendation is with the 550'
s. The satellites produced the best trebles and midrange IMO, even though the woofer isn't quite as strong as the 680's or come with as many ceritfications (dolby digital, dts etc.)

thanks alot for the input, I'm starting to lean towards the 550's.. I wish I could go try them all out but i just moved to china and havn't found a place that sells anything near these speakers.
but I can deal with a little weaker base for $70 price difference
