Can anyone tell me if it's okay to plug this mic to 48v phantom power?
After I plugged it into a Presonus Firepod a couple time, it became
unoperable.(Ouch!) I can't find any info about this model on line.
Please help, thanks!
It would not work WITHOUT phantom power.
This is a cardioid capsule microphone, designed for using phantom power 48v.
When I remember correctly the range could be from 9 - 52 volts.

Is that Audio Technica AT4031? If so, It's a discontinued model. But
it's a phantom powered condenser mic that obviously requires power to
work. The 4031 was the bottom of the series that still has the 4049,
4051, and 4053. I have it in a 1997 catalog.

Are you sure it's the microphone that's become inoperable and not the
input on your Firepod? If the input stage isn't properly protected,
it's possible that unpugging and plugging a mic with the phantom power
turned on can cause a voltage spike and damage the preamp electronics.
Try turning the phantom power off, plugging the mic into a different
channel, and then turning phantom power on.
