Need Help for shopping for a new laptop....

I'm currently in the market for a new laptop. I would like some opinions on the best places to look. I don't want to spend more than $1000. This system will be used solely for my writing and browsing the internet (no games, so graphic chips aren't really an issue) so I know that one of the programs I would like to have is Word.

Also what else would I need to buy for it, like any specific cable types, etc.

Thanks in advance

newegg.com usually has the best prices. You shouldn't need to buy anything else. Everything should come with the laptop, unless you want a carrying case not all come with them.

You could also try looking at Dell, HP and Gateway.

I've bid on a few new and recertified laptops at Ubid.com. I've been very happy with the quality, the last few I've gotten came straight from HP. The nice thing is the extended warranties are a percentage of your bid price, you pay 20% for 1-year(90 days, plus 12-months), or 30% for 2-years (90 days, plus 24-months).

In the past Ubid has allowed some questionable businesses to auction used items, and it really hurt their reputation. The past couple years though, the quality of the auctions are more strict. i would suggest auctions that Ubid handles directly, and on items that are directly under warranty from the manufacturer. Also, I have found their customer support is very good and easy to reach.

As the previous post stated, Newegg is an option as well. As far as new goes, I don't think there's a better place to go than Newegg. Good Luck!
