So I have a couple laptops that I purchased from Ubid.com. They are recertified from HP, and they're spotless. I am trying to sell them through work, friends, and word of mouth. I've found quite a few people that are interested or know someone interested, but I have yet to hear any follow up.... granted it's only been a few days. I'm concerned that I'm not going about this the right way, or is that people just expect something for nothing? Additionally I don't think it helps that there are so many scams out there. Am I asking too much? Any feedback would be appreciated. These are the prices I'm asking:

I think that most people are just wary about buying something they don't know the history of. Sure HP says that it is in working order, but how do people actually know that it is? Me on the other hand, I don't really care. If it doesn't work it's not my problem, but the company that falsely advertised the "working" product. Currently I am typing this on a refurb Dell Dimension that was in excellent shape and has hardly given me any problems.I don't think you are going about this wrong, just that people tend to be cautious when something isn't "new".
As a side, where did you get the price for the first laptop? It seems a little high to me. Might just be me though.
Well my price is really based on how much I paid, and how much the new model costs. I agree, I think the price is a bit too high. I paid $550 including shipping. I think starting at $575 might be more realistic. Thanks for the input.
I've never trusted re-certified machines. In my mind, basically, there is a chance they are machines that failed bad enough to be replaced; some are just open box type returns. I've heard tons of stories about people having to keep sending back their machines for problems like overheating and the maintenance shop only cleans it and applies more thermal paste... yet they keep overheating and eventually get a replacement. So what happens to it?
I think they get cleaned again and put back out as re-certified machines waitng for the next sucker to get it.... I push my machines, so I wouldn't trust a recertified machine.
