Exact Free Space count

I have a problem with my drive... i have an IDE 40gigabyte drive which i use specificaly for file sharing programs (kazaa and shareaza) now, i downloaded a whole lot last night.. about 16GB, and all the files are just sitting there... taking their space, but when i right click the drive and go to properties, windows tells me that the drive is 28GB full out of 40GB.

this is a pretty wide margin, there are only 16GB of files on the drive.

whats going on here?

Do you have the options set to show all files?
Have you tried selecting all the files and see what they total up to?

Did you account for all the imcomplete files too? I believe Kazaa saves them as .DAT files. They'll look like download23432523235.dat
