Lynx Two A arrived(4i/4o's). Nice little package & no tears or cussing
installing it into a PCI slot.
Software installed easy enough, selected the driver in Nuendo and voilah. I
can not get into the Monitor Software it comes with though. It's been MONTHS
since I did anything at the house & the last rig I had was Digi 001 as a
front end with Nuendo. I got some new monitors won't divulge those but I had
to try 'em at that price. At least they have some low end. Wanted the 824s,
used to hearing them, maybe I'll send these back but they work. I don't
think I'm crazy about 'em. though. Take some getting used to but really for
the price...

Still curious how the Lynx stacks up against the RME 9652/ADI-2, put all the
stats on paper gotta hear it. Mainly wonder about the drivers, Nuendo, and
the relationship to System performance and how many VST plugs you can load
up and the buffer size that goes with it & will work decently.
It's showing the buffer at 32...about 2 secs input/ 1 sec output latency of
which I'd never pull that off with any plugs..................up to 1024 24
secss in/out latency.

Where & what does the output latency show up as..what exactly. I don't
really hear it. Input latency obviously & if I'm using "direct monitoring"
then that won't matter right?

Any of this make sense? woohooh.

Well, since you didn't buy both of them, I guess you'll never really
know, will you? The main thing is how it stacks up to your
expectations. If you spend your life worrying about whether you might
have chosen something better, you'll never be happy.

The concept of input and output latency is something new to me. I'm
guessing that input latency is the time between when something comes
into the input and when it gets written to a file. I'm not sure how you
could really measure this since you can't tell where it is in the file
until you play it back and then you're into "output latency." It's
possible that output latency has to do with the delay time between when
a command comes in from the computer and when you hear something. This
might relate to how the timing of a MIDI triggered sample is affected.

It's all relative though. When I see numbers like 1 second that you
posted I think that something is dreadfully wrong, though.

I have an Lynx L22 running on a Sonar 4P box. PC is an Athlon 1.4,
WinXP Pro, ASIO drivers. I've got some 44.1/24 bit 24 track projects
with a few a few plugs. These projects require 512 sampling setting
which results in around 11.2 ms latency, 70% CPU usage.
Lynx is a rock solid performer. :> )

Of course, YMMV.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I think I'm going to like it. Even with these
not fantastic speakers I can tell some details that are different.

I was messing around and tried my hand with some files pulled off of Radar
and into Nuendo monitoring through Lynx at the house.
.. Just experimenting with Lynx & the drivers to see how many needless plugs
I could load up. Lot of too loud stuff sticking out in places still but a
good sounding card.
