Hi. I'm looking for suggestions in buying a soundcard to use on a laptop that can record more than 4 input tracks at once. I'm a graduate student who is studying whale vocalizations and I have no idea where to start looking. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Do you want to be able to equalize and manipulate all of the tracks seperately once they're on your computer or do you just need to be able to get four input channels to record, not seperately? There can be a major price difference, depending on what you need. Does your laptop have a firewire port? USB 2.0?

Hi. I think I would want to be able to manipulate individual tracks separately on my computer. I don't have a laptop yet, but the one that I do get will depend on which soundcard or audio interface I buy. I was looking into the RME Hammerfall Multiface as it has 8 inputs and can be used on a laptop. Any suggestions or opinions?

Which RME sound card is it? Goto http://www.rme-audio.com and pm/post the link here pls.

You can also try looking at http://www.m-audio.com as well. They have lots of USB/Firewire cards.
