I have a brand new Seagate 120GB Barracuda drive(7200RM, etc..) and this thing gets so FREEKING hot I cant even touch it, at IDLE!!! Is this normal?
Right now I am having issues with cooling in my case anyway(I have an Antec 1080AMG, with 6 total hard drives(3 in a RAID0) 3 cdroms, a DFI NFII Ultra, Geforce 5600) and this case gets really hot as well. So I just took everything out of the case and set it on my desk until I cure this, but even when the drive is just sitting in open air it is too hot to touch!
Please help!
Thanks guys!!
Absolutely not. I don't have any recent experience with barracuda drives, but they shouldn't be too hot to touch. I got several 7200 rpm drives and they only get warm. Very hot drives tend to die quickly; probably bearings which cause too much friction as they wear out.
