Full Memory not shown

Hello,
I brought a new CPU yesterday

Motherboard : GA-880GM-USB3 (gigabyte)
CPU : AMD FX 8120
Memory : 4+4 DDR3 RAM 1333MHz
BIOS VERSION : GA-880GM-USB3 FE


OS installed : I have both windows 7 x86 and x64 installed on the machine.

But my problem is that when ever i run windows either of them, I can only see 6gb of ram and of which only 3.5 is useable in x64 and 2.8gb useable in x86.



BUT when i installed CPUID's CPU-Z I can see that the whole 8gb of Ram is working, i.e., hardware is fine, but how do i get to see the whole ram and utilize it fully.

I had a similar problem, I had to enable 'memory mapping' in BIOS for my system to recognise all my RAM. Now forums will tell you that you need to do this before you install windows but I did it after windows was installed and it worked fine for me. So there ya go.

if your using on board video...some of the system ram going to be used for video ram..check your bios settings.

x32 version of windows will never see more than 3-4gb of ram.

yes look for Memory Remapping or memory hole remapping in your bios to solve the issue with x64.

My mobo's bios donot have anything related to memory that i can change so cant do anything there.. any ideas for solving my problem

UMA Frame Buffer Size default is auto..see what happens if you set it to x amount of ram.

PROBLEM SOLVED THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP EVERYONE.. THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE MEMORY STICK. I GOT IT REPLACED AND EVERYTHING IS WORKING FINE.
