Two have appeared just an inch below the exact center of my screen, and since they are the lit kind, they are driving me nuts. I'm afraid that since they are only 2, even though they could not be in a worse position, that sony will not grant me a replacement (I'm under warranty).

Are there any ways to create dead pixels without making it obvious that you've done it yourself? This seems underhanded, I know, but I'm very frustrated with the industry's position on dead pixels. I didn't choose a sony with it's "beautiful x-brite screen" so that I oculd have bright red and green dots staring me in the face.

...im not sure of you situation, but some places that you buy from offer warrenty on topof the manufactures.

there are variations in the warrenties as well.

some are max 3 pixels, while others are more spacific and have a zero centre policy.

look into it further.

another way around it would be to buy the same model from a place that has a Zero policy and return you used one... if you want to chance it.

lmao at returning the old one and buying the same model..I actually did that recently with something on a lil bit of a smaller scale. MY Ps2 headset mic stopped working so I bought a new one from BestBuy and then returned the non-working one and got a refund for it. =)

its a sad system... kinda feel bad doing it. but it works.

If you don't want to feel bad about it tho, concider this.

The broken item you return in its packaging will only be sent back from the distributor(bestbuy) to the manufacturer for a rebate anyhow. Bestbuy doesn't care. It makes it easier for the manufacturer too,as you don't have to tie them up with complaints and so forth.

Oh BestBuy cares. A little bit too much, even. Do a search for "BestBuy" and "devil customer".

Seriously though, you really shouldn't be punishing the only companies with honest warranty policies for the failings of those with retarded warranty policies. That's just perverse. Better break some extra pixels yourself. Where are the methods? I need them too, for my laptop :)
