Is there an algorithmus/programm like Zip to compress several
Audiofiles and put them into one file? Audio has a lot of redundance,
so a lossless(!) compression of audio, especially raw material of
single tracks, should be possible.
Faktor 5 until 10 depending on level (often you don't need 24bit) and
programm (e.g. quiet parts beetween single bassdrum hits).
I do not mean mp3 or other compression algorithm with actual data
reduction.

It's spelled "audiophiles" and I don't think they'd like that...
Oh, wait. Sorry. You meant "audio files".
Yes, there is such a program. It's called Zip.
Zip works with any tpe of file. A compression program specifically designed
for musical redundancies might produce greater compression, but Zip will
work.
I'd like to try to compress some audiophiles!!! Nice idea! hehehe
What program would you suggest on Mac?

For lossless audio compression use Flac, Monkey's Audio, etc.
On most material, the compression factor will be closer to 2
than to 10.

Then the is (was?) WaveZip . Optimised for audio type data.

FLAC is good for the compression part, but it only compresses single
files, it doesn't create archives. I suppose you could squash all of your
files with FLAC and then Zip them in 'fast' mode. Two-part process,
though.

Rar in multimedia mode gives pretty good compression on wav files, and
will create archives. It's also got some neat recovery features.
My preferred choice for multiple files is to use flac then create a
tarball. There's no compression with tarballs so you don't have to wait
ages or risk actually making the files bigger. (Compressing compressed
data can make bigger files than you started with!)

whatever happened to Zap? that thing that emagic developed.
