Quick question: Why SATA? Isn't it still more expensive?

I think it first depends on how product names effect your judgement. Now Western Digital makes a 120gb SATA for $115 nothing smaller, this isnt too shaby, Seagate80gb $85, Maxtor80gb $95. I myself would go for the WD120 just for dollar per gb. I would watch out for the others Warranty Periods, WD 3years shows it right on the website. Do some research and see what you come up with.
Seagate 80GB (ST380023AS)SATA HD
Maxtor 80GB (6Y080M0) SATA HD
Western Digital Caviar SE 120GB (WD1200JD) SATA HD
I would personally go for the dual Westen Digital Raptor drives. These are rated at 10000RPM's but are only 37GB. I'd use these for my Doot Drive and possibly get something bigger for storing other Data on.
SATA drives are not more that more expensive than conventional IDE drives (EIDE 133). Some SATA devices come with dual power (SATA and normal balun power connecters)
I just read a review in cpu magazine that said that the Maxtor 250 sata had faster access times than the Western digital raptor.
question. When western digital says that their new drive is 30% faster, what is it comparing it to? Is it comparing it to the current raptor or a standard ata drive?
