Did you find the Realtek AC97 Volume Control? It has controls to turn up
the microphone, mute the CD Player, etc. Try
Start-Programs-Accessories-Entertainment-Volume Control.
What software are you using to record? If Sound Recorder
(Start-Programs-Accessories-Entertainment-Sound Recorder) it defaults to an
audio file format of 16 bit/44.1kHz, which is what you want to burn to CD.
you might also need to change the sound recording input settings, which
on my system are not acerssed from the output volume control.
Start-Settings-Control-pannel-sounds (or audio card, etc.).
