Auto232 Crafty

Hi!

I am wanting to play Shredder 9 (which I just purchased yesterday)
against Crafty 19.19.

I understand that Shredder 9 supports auto232. I have 2 PCs. I want
to use auto232 to play one PC against the other. Crafty is on linux
and shredder is on Win XP. Using a null serial cable can I connect the
2 PCs together(namely crafty?)? Do I need to use Xboard or something
(GUI) for Crafty? Or can I use Crafty from the command line and
connect the cable?

If so, how do I tell crafty that I am using auto232? Is there a
command line command or something I put in the craftyrc file? How does
crafty know to look at the serial port and which port?

There probably was something in the docs but I missed it. I either
didn't download that file or something.

Could someone please give me some assistance? I'd like to hook up
WinXP shredder to linux via a serial cable and no other software except
for config. Else what software do I need for Crafty or how do I config
crafty 19.19?

Steve

How come auto232 wouldn't work?

Does Crafty use auto232 built-in and do I need to use some command line
or do I need some software like xboard? What will work easily?

btw Vincent. Can I ask your solution was? How did it work?

If you found a solution connecting windows to linux, please let us know.

I wrote my own interface to connect an old diep win32 interface to linux.
that was not so easy to make.

Thanks,
Vincent

Well, I can use "plink.exe name@host /usr/games/crafty" to connect to
crafty on my linux box. Plink.exe is Putty's command-line ssh-client.

I suppose, once you have a way to automatically log in, that should work
inside Arena/WinBoard and maybe Fritz.
