What are you after? DVD to VCD, burnt by a CDRW, or DVD to DVD, burnt by a DVD burner?
The above posted suggestions are excellent for CDRW burning to VCD, however if you're looking to rip and burn DVD to DVD, get yourself a copy of (DVD X COPY) (Express) before its removed from the store shelves, if you have a 4x DVD burner with 4x DVD-R media DVD X Copy Express, will rip the movie and burn it to disk in less than 30Min. It uses compression software, and it will fit up to a 9GB movie on a 4.7GB disk.

I used DVDx 2.0 to convert to the VCD format, then burned to disk using Nero and my CDRW, but I don't know if you can still obtain DVDx 2.0, but I'll check and post back a link for you.
