I have a Athlon XP 2600+ cpu with an Asus A7N8X Deluxe Motherboard with 512 DDR PC2700 and my computer keeps rebooting. I mean it reboots randomly. I could be typying something in Word, playing games, or my screen saver could be running. Its like it will reboot when it wants to. Does anyone have the same motherboard and has the same problem? I mean I don't have a virus, my cpu is stable at 52C so its not over heating. The only thing i can think of is that my memory isn't good. I read somewhere the motherboard runs best with Corsair memory. Is this true?? Anyone know what the problem could be??

Before you do anything else, first download memtest86 to run stability test of your RAM, if error comes up, then your RAM is probably bad. Corsair RAMs do run better than the generic RAMs but it doesn't warrant it'll be run perfectly on your system. There is a lot of problems using Corsair on A7N8X too, but yet, Corsair XMS and Kingston HyperX are two brands I trust.

Me fail English? That's Unpossible!

Random boots? Check your power supply! Also check your AC power lines.
If the memory is bad I would also expect other effects like Windows freezing, BSODs, corrupted screen, etc. Also, if the memory is bad I would expect the system to hang in similar circumstances, not at random.

Although memory wouldn't be my first suspect it still can be the culprit. You could try to seat your DIMM(s) in other slots, run only with 1 dimm (if you have multiple), or run memtest. You could try to lower your memory timings.

I've heard of problems with having a gig of corsair and the a7n8x boards, but don't hear much about it anymore, so I can assume some bios revisions were affected and later fixed? I have 2x256 corsair pc3200ll right now and I LOVE it. I haven't tried any other ram running past pc133 though and that was with micron which I was also pretty pleased with. Just stay away from anything generic and you have a good chance :) And I agree with that other guy, if your computer is rebuting randomly, check power connections or your PSU. My brother's computer does this all the time, I keep telling him it MIGHT be the PSU, but he just yells at me saying Its got 400W, there's no way its the problem...ever hear of the 2000W $150 car amp? Ya, because its actual rating is MUCH much lower. So possibly if you have generic ram and psu your board just isn't liking it.
