Whenver I play games my speakers work fine. But when I'm playing a movie, the voices of people speaking are too quiet, compared with the background noise. The background noise overpowers the important dialogue going on! What's the problem? Is it because I need a new sound card? Right now I'm running on a benchmark burning integrated AC'97 sound card (I think it's AC'97), and Creative Inspire 2.1 speakers.

If I do need to upgrade, can you guru's suggest some cheap but capable soundcards/speakers. I'm a pretty cheap person :).

For movies, it helps to have a center channel speaker. If you dont want to get a center channel then their should be a way to configure the surround properties of AC '97. I dont have intergrated sound so I cant tell how to do it.

A center channel speaker is a great thing to have. Alot of sound from movies come from it.
