Is it possible to use 2 ide hard drives in raid on a motherboard that supports sata raid? Is there some kind of ide to sata adapter? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You mean in addition to the 4 IDE drives already supported by the board? Yes, you can get adapters, but they're so expensive you'd might as well buy a PCI-IDE adapter.

What I meant was, if a motherboard has sata/sata raid support, is it possible to connect ide drives in a raid configuration to the sata connectors on the motherboard. For example, I own 2 WD1200JB hard drives and was wondering if it is possible to connect these to a m/b with sata raid instead of purchasing a seperate pci raid controller.

You could, but a cheap RAID cards cost around $25, while a usabled SATA to IDE adapter cost around $30 (and you'd need 2).
