Hello all,
I recently built a new system utilizing Corsair's TWINX1024-4000PT Memory. I thought this was supposed to be PC4000 DDR500 memory. When I use CPU-Z to look at the settings it shows it as PC3700 with a Frequency of 200Mhz. Shouldn't this be PC4000 and shouldn't the Frequency be higher. I thought DDR400 ran at 200Mhz. Since this is DDR500 I would think it should run faster. Of course I could just be confused. The motherboard is an Asus P4c800-e Deluxe with all BIOS settings at default. Please help. I would hate to have spent that much on RAM for it to be underperforming.

Thanks all,

Duke

Are you overclocking your system at all?? Just because it is rated at 250MHz doesn't mean that when you put it in you will run 250MHz.

as said earlier you need to overclock your fsb to utilise the faster ram speed.

Also cpu-z and sisoft sandra frequently mis-detect ram, they both detect my pc150 as pc142.

If it isn't a P6 then it isn't a procesor

Thanks for the input guys. I currently am not overclocking, but my intention when building this sytem is to overclock it. OK, so if it says it's running at 200Mhz then I times that by 2 to get the actual Data Rate Mhz of 400. Is that correct ? That would make sense I guess then that 250Mhz would then be a DataRate of 500Mhz. So is it just a matter of increasing the FSB speed and the RAM will atuomagically run faster ? Pardon my newbie questions. I have been doing a lot of reading of late on OC'ing and am coming to find out their are more variables than I had imagined. :)

Thanks again to all for the help,

Duke
