I have a stick of high perf OCZ 2700 256mb, I want to upgrade to 512mb of ram, is it safe to try a different company such as crucial for the second stick of 256?, or will cause my pc to explode upon fisrt boot-up?
Actually ram explosion is quite common when you mix memory sticks. I should watch out, to avoid explosion make sure your memory sticks get along with one another before installing.
Ok, back to reality, it will run as long as you buy pc2700 or greater (ie pc3200 or 3500) it will run just fine, however your memory will run the loosest settings of the 2 memory modules for example if you run 2 modules one with
2-3-3-5 1t
and the other
2.5-3-3-7 1t
Both modules will be forced to run 2.5-3-3-7
If it isn't a P6 then it isn't a procesor
