I would like to know how much difference memory timeings make to actual performance. With dual channel PC3200 is there really any significant difference between CAS 2 and CAS 2.5. I’m basically looking to get the most bang for my buck with memory and I want to know if its worth spending the a lot of extra money for 2-3-2-6-T1 memory if 2.5-3-3-7-T2 is really going to be just as effective. Particularly if I’m not planning to overclock. Any suggestions?

the simple answer is if you are not overclocking stick with cas 2.5, maybe even cas 3 if you are running a p4 (as it not effected as much as the k7 by latency increases).

I normally tell people to stay away from 2T because it really does hinder memory performance. I would say good value select timmings would be (and the best bang for the buck) 2.5-3-3-7 1T

If it isn't a P6 then it isn't a procesor
