Whenever I turn on the monitor it seems to try to start up but then switches itself off. If there is no signal from the PC it sits happily on standby until I plug the VGA connector in and then switches off. Sometimes it works properly sometimes it doesnt. I would like to keep it as i bought it from work for 40 quid which is a bargain for a 21 incher. Thoughts anyone? Cheers

Nothing to worry about. The reason it goes off when you plug the vga cable in is it detects that there is no signal from the computer and turns off. With the cable off it is waiting for a signal.
Its ok. its not broke or anything.
