Bought a Beyer M260 off ebay that (surprise, surprise) was badly
misrepresented by the seller. There's no signal at all when the mic is
plugged in, just a constant stream of slight hiss. Is this just
indicative of a blown ribbon or something more serious?
Btw, does anyone know where Mr Stephen Sank is? Emailed him twice in
the last week w/o reply. Anyone know if he's just on holiday, or has he
changed his business email from the usual bk11@thuntek.net?

It's a good bet that posting an unprotected email address on
Usenet has just destroyed it. Maybe somebody beat you to it.

It's academic, because Beyer basically repairs the things by replacing
all the insides. So it doesn't matter what is wrong... you pay the
same amount no matter what it is. Be sure to ask for your old parts
back when you get it repaired because the transformers are in short
supply.

Dunno, I talked to him a few weeks ago.
