"You read it here first: Canon has broken the $1000 price point barrier for SLR digital cameras."
Although I love this camera and have plans of purchasing it early next year, I laugh that you say 'you read it here first'. Most camera/digital camera sites posted the news of this camera back in on Aug 20, 2003 (http://www.dpreview.com/news/0308/03082005canoneos300d.asp) and had reviews (pre-production models) posted on Sept 4, 2003 (http://www.dpreview.com/news/0309/03090401canoneos300dreview.asp).
I'm not trying to down play your review, however you claim of having it first is FAR from true.
There were already some rumours , but now Nikon has announced the D70 digital SLR. (http://www.dpreview.com/news/0312/03120301nikond70.asp)
It is to be based on the D100 and will be a lot like the analog F75.
This means it will be direct competition for the Canon EOS 300D. Hopefully Olympus and others will soon follow.
