I have a relatively new Gateway notebook that I want to buy a larger hard drive for. It is currently 30GB, but I want to get one that will go as large as I can get, 80 GB or so. What issues if any do I need to be concerned with?

Can I buy any notebook hard drive and swap them?

Thanks!

There are several different thicknesses for notebook drives.

So if I find a hard drive with the same thickness, would it be safe to assume that it should work in my notebook?

Yes, as long as the BIOS of your drive supports that size.
