What's the different between HyperX memory and normal RAM? The name itself sound cool, but does it really have the burst perfomance? Both have the same speed and bus speed, but why HyperX? Marketing strategy?
I was going to get a barton 2500 with kingston hyper X 3200, I was gonna get a gig as well, so it would cost me quite a bit. I was planning on overclocking it to 200FSB to match the ram. Now if i get normal Valueram from kingston thats already 3200, would it work ok? or should i get the hyperX cause of better quality and lower latency? (the gig of value was around 140 at best buy, the hyperX is like 240 or something on newegg.. Not sure on prices)
another thing to consider. i'm learning from experience as well as posts that the mobo has plenty to do with what you get out of your memory. i've got a p4p800 deluxe (generally good board) paired with some of the kingston 3200 hyper-whatever. the problem that i and others have run into is that we can't get the memory to run at the low latency timings (lots of instability and bsod). people are having to ratchet back their settings to something similar to what you might get with a valueram.
so... make sure your mobo lists it as a compatible memory and hope for the best. i'm hoping that asus will come up with upgrades in their bios that will allow the memory to do its thing at aggressive timings.
