Hello,
i'm very desperately seeking someone who knows this system. I do have
one that was in perfect working (production) condition. Now i have the
problem that it doesnt boot properly anymore - and i do not know why...
Formerly it showed all appropriate LED's at startup, now it just shows
a short lit of the clipping LED's and power LED. I use the startup
procedure mentioned in the handbook (Processor, Drive, Mac), everything
is configured for serial connection (properly cabled). The mac connects
properly to the drives as well.
I know i had that in the past, however i don't know how i solved it...
it was something pretty simple, however i can't remember and i found
noone who could help me meanwhile (studer switzerland didn't even
answer a mail, studer germany sent me to studer switzerland...)...
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I know there must be someone using this system out there.

"Dr. Fred" Bashour still has one, I think, and probably knows it as
well as anyone. He might be able to help you assess the damages but
probably can't tell you how to fix it or where to get replacement
parts.
If you can't find his e-mail address with a little searching, you can
probably contact him through Pro Audio Review, for which he writes
regularly. That's at par@iamspub.com. You could write to that address
and ask to have your message passed on to Fred.

It's been a long time since I booted the Dyaxis I, but it did occasionally have
boot issues if I remember right. Are there Mac inits (extensions) that need to
be in the right folder to be found? I seem to recall something about that.
You might try magicsound@aol.com as they have a Dyaxis page
(http://members.aol.com/magicsound/dyaxis.html) on the web and seem to have
support for the Dyaxis as recently as 1/1/2005.

Dr. Fred Bashour posts regularly to the DAW-Mac list, and he is a Dyaxis
user. Ask there.

It seems that Google obscures e-mail addresses in messages, but I beat
them to it and typed it incorrectly anyway. It's
"par-at-imaspub-dot-com." Try to mung that, Google!
Studer Dyaxis systems are still fully supported by magicsound.us. Tech support is always free and components up to complete systems are available. We are now using solid-state flash based SCSI drives up to 16 gB with our own Dyaxis 1 systems. Email for details.
