Cant see a drive in windows

Im trying to hook up my old laptop drive to my desktop to reformat and mess with it, ive got an adaptor, i see the drive in BIOS, i see it in the windows device manager, but it's not in the My Computer folder, nor has it been assigned a drive letter, any ideas how i can fix this? im running Win2K
