Does anybody know how to reset a Yamaha Spx 90II to the factory settings? I
bought one on ebay with a garbled display and I supect that it just needs to
be rebooted.
Thanks,Alex

Hi Alex,

I haven't located my 90-II manual, but the 90 manual has no indication
of the ability to 'reset' without the removal of the battery. Removing the
battery will also wipe out any 'user' stored programs... so if you picked
up the unit based on custom patches, you will lose those if you don't
manually note all patches and parameters and reprogram them later.

The manual does make note of the display failing at high temperatures,
so if it just came off of the truck, maybe it will improve after it settles in
to control room temps.

I'm going to assume (since I've had these things forever and they are
virtually identical except for greater parameters on the "II" ) that the 90-II
reset is also done by battery removal. I have never seen another way
of resetting one of these discussed.

There are only three error messages that can be seen from bootup;
E0, E1, E2 will show up on the bottom line of the display. These are
all ROM and RAM errors.

Hi Alex,
a link to the manual:
http://tinyurl.com/7zr6k

In theory, presets 1-30 are stored on ROM and cannot be changed...
Unfortunately, I coudn't find a 'factory reset' procedure anywhere in
the manual.

Good luck,
