Computer BSODs within seconds/minutes, virtually unusable

Hello.
First of all, an admission: I posted about my problem on the Tech Guy forums but have received minimal responses. I've often read Tom's Hardware threads and figured it might be worth a try here. I'm not going to copy and paste my thread - I'll write everything out again with all the information I've gathered.

The Problem:
A few months ago I built my first PC. All parts were brand new, except the graphics card. I couldn't afford the one I wanted so I used an old Radeon HD 4670 - a card that doesn't match the rest of the system in power.

Maybe a week ago, I started getting blue screens. At first I'd be able to use the computer for hours before the BSOD. It would generally go by too fast for me to read what it said, though I caught a few error messages, which I will post below. I'd say about 5 days ago is when it became unusable. Sometimes I get a few minutes before it crashed, sometimes only 40 seconds or so. I have been using a family member's (extremely slow) Mac laptop for internet use, and also an iPod touch on the side. Needless to say, I'm beyond frustrated that I can't access any of my music or use a speedy computer to do what I want. I'm worried that I did something wrong while building - but why would it take months to become apparent?

Things I've Done:
- I ran memtest on the advice of a forum member. Two passes is what they recommended, and no errors popped up.

- I scheduled a check disk, although when I rebooted my computer to let it run, it only took 5-10 minutes - shouldn't it take WAY longer than that?

- System Restore. I tried yesterday and got a BSOD during. Today I was able to restore to the 24th (that was my earliest restore point), however about 2 minutes afterward I got the usual BSOD.

BSOD Errors:
It has shown so many errors - it seems to literally be a new one each time. I don't know if I've even seen the same one twice. Sometimes it's on the top, in capital letters, and sometimes on the bottom, with an extension (a file). These are the ones I spotted (especially after I told it not to restart on error so I could read them):

- SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
- IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
- CACHE_MANAGER

- atikmdag
- cng.sys
- ntfs.sys
- fltmgr.sys
- TDY.sys

Here is my dxdiag, from the 25th.

I was told that my minidump files could be useful, but when I tried to email them to myself (for retrieval on this laptop) I got a BSOD. If it's absolutely necessary, then I will try again. I hope this is fixable by myself (with help from places like this, of course) but if it's not I'm prepared to take it to a repair place in town, I suppose. If it's a hardware issue I should still have warranty on the parts.

Thank you for reading and thanks in advance for any potential help.

Memtest needs to be run more than couple of passes but have you tried with single ram module, one at a time.

I would start with a hirim boot cd.
http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/
start with a smart test and vendor test of your hard drive. if they come back fine then i use cpu-z and gpu-z. with cpu-z see what speed your ram is running at. and its timing. look under the spd info to see if it matches. to get the fastest speed you have to set your ram dram speed in the bios to xmp profile. I also check to see if your mb has the newest bios. dont try to flash it yet if it not..having an unstable system can brick the mb during a flash update. if you have two ram dimms i would remove one of them and move the other to another slot..see if the bsod or the windows error logs change. also check with the case open that the cpu and gpu fan is working...on the gpu make sure that the fan is spining up faster under load..most times the fans will break where there stuck at the slowest speed. (gpu then over heats and locks up.) programs like prime 95 will help you see if it your cpu or gpu. prime streeses out your cpu and ram. if you can get some help from some friends try and get another power supply and video card.start with the video card..run the system with a new video card..if the bsod stop then you may have had bad ram on the gpu. if the error stop with a new ps then you may have had a power issue.

Did you overclock? (From the looks of it, I'm guessing the answer is 'yes')

As far as what the problem is, one of your hardware devices has failed. Likely your CPU, RAM, or motherboard. This can be caused by excessive temperatures, overclocking (especially over volting, that damages the CPU slowly over time.), or loose connections.
July 30, 2012 8:51:54 PM

2 passes is a bit little, try with 1 stick of RAM to see if it runs, you could take the side off the case and blow a desktop fan at it for extra coooling which may help if it is heat related, but if Shotzo is right and you are overclocked you may have fried something already.
July 30, 2012 10:30:01 PM

First thing I'll try is running with only one RAM and switching slots then I'll move on to the other suggestions. Thank you.

And to answer the questions: no, I don't and never have overclocked, and I don't think it's overheating since I installed two extra case fans when I got it and the temps have always seemed fine. I've never even felt hot air blowing out, it's always cool.

I'm fairly certain something is fried. Swap out parts till you find out which one.

Both strongly indicate either a RAM or Driver problem.

Theres a new one; actually had to look this one up:

Quote:
Bug Check 0x34: CACHE_MANAGER

This indicates that a problem occurred in the file system's cache manager.

Run a chkdsk; might be a HDD problem.

I'm seeing enough different things crash that either the HDD or RAM must be at fault. No other errors could be causing such a wide range of system failures, at least as often as they seem to be occuring.

I'm clicking "Best Answer" on the first post to suggest the fix but I'm not sure if it's doing anything.

It was the RAM apparently. I'm running with just one module and it's been working fine for days. Thanks to everyone who suggested I give that a try.
