Im jus wondering if its worth paying 200-300 dollars for for the 256mb card. Ive looked at the testings on the cards n there isnt much of a difference. Can someone give me some advice? Its mainly for gaming (hl2, doom3, etc). Thx. Oh and which card is the best to go with if its not the 9800 pro 256 and the fx5900 ultra 256

By the time you actually need 256MB, your card will be outdated, so I'd save money and get the 128MB version.

If you want a good performer that's fairly future proof, go with a 9600 Pro, if you have some more money, go for the 9800 Pro 128 MB. That's about as good as it gets right now. The XT is still too expensive, and the 256 MB versions are definitely not worth it right now.

Some day I'll be rich and famous for inventing a device that allows you to stab people in the face over the internet.
