I've read a few of Scott' references regarding a sowter transformer that
will improve an RCA 74b mic. I'm hoping to reduce noise a bit and get a
wider response. I like the overall tone of the original mic's and wouldn't
want to mess much with the midrange tone.
Has anybody done this mod?
From sowter's website I see two possible options.
The 9760 (1:10 ratio) and the 8074 (1:40 ratio). The 9760 is for ribbon
impedance's of 1-3 ohms. The 8074 is for ribbon's under 1 ohm.

Is the 8074 the right one?
Will these fit into the case on the RCAjr's?
Any other advice?

Thanks
Steve
