Guys, I have to buy another new keyboard ... keep spilling beer in the damn things and getting the keys stuck ... so here's what I need:

1. Inexpensive: None of this fancy bluetooth crap ... I don't mind PS/2 wired, it's $ that matters ($20-30, or so)

2. Easy to clean out (is there beer-proof keyboards)

Note: I have a cheap M$ optical wired ps/2 mouse ... and got no complaints ...

So, as always, your recommendations would be appreciated.

Is it quiet? I've been looking for a quiet keyboard for ages, but they all end up getting loud after a few weeks.

My bros Logitech keyboard seems to be pretty quiet, but I haven't really payed attention much, or have had headphones on while playing Doom 3 so I can't hear it much.

Pretty average, not loud. Depends how hard you hit the keys

But its one of the best looking / priced keyboards I've come across.

Radio Shack has a completely beer proof keyboard, and its not too expensive.

Thanks Ryan - I'm on keyboard #4 now ... can't really clean these cheap one ... I don't think. I was looking at Newegg's list, and everyone said "Must be purchased with hardware" ... wtf, I always thought a keyboard was hardware ...

Naw - they got a bunch of cheap ($5) lite-on basic ps/2 keyboars ... that I get buy by the half-dozen, and just toss out every month or so when I dump another beer on them ... but "must buy with hardware" is on every keyboard I looked at ... here's a link

Note: I just re-checked and some don't, but look at this M$ keyboard & Mouse combo ... why isn't this considered hardware?

All soft membrane click keyboards can be cleaned via the hose or in sink with the sprayer.
Just spray them off, shake them out, blow dry or let sit overnight, and they are like new.
You can do this to any keyboard, just the mechanical ones, need to use much less water and faster drying process.
I have done it to dozens, and they all are still working.

I see you're ordering the 5 dollar specials thats really all you need, just throw the thing in the trash if you screw it up.

The Radio Shack keyboard I was talking about was a completely sealed rollup type, that you could wash off with a waterhose if needed, the only problem is, I've seen the thing in the Radio Shack store itself, because my wife almost bought one about a month ago, but its not listed online???

That doesn't make sense?

But you've got your problem solved anyway, but the next time you are browsing in your local Radio Shack, check it out.

Reply to 4ryan6

If what a previous poster said is true about washing them out ... I've got 4 to "hose off" ... I'll blow them out and dry them for a few days and see if they still work ... maybe, I'll become the junk keyboard king ... I hardly ever get to a Radio Shack - but I'll try ...

Disregard my last post Jake, I found out that Radio Shack had discontinued that particular spillproof keyboard!

You can. We get a fair few that customers have trashed spilling coffee, tea, juice etc on. We charge 'em for a new keyboard then wash their old one out. Leave it dry a couple of days and it goes into use on our benches building new machines. Very rarely will you get one you can't rescue.

They are usually categorized as peripherals. Hardware is often reserved for the stuff inside the computer.
