so whats the deal with serial ATA ?

i know the cables are smaller, which is a benefit..

but can you really connect only 1 drive?
and what about CDroms, can they be connected through serial ATA or do i STILL have to have that IDE cable for my CDROM?

not to mention floppy drives...

pretty sure only one drive per channel. i dont think they make cd drives that use sata. and i hope they never make a floppy drive that connects to serial ata lol.

The biggest advantage to SATA is that 10 years from now, when you buy a drive that actually transfers at 150MB/s, you might be able to use it on your old motherboard at full speed!
