Problem with SoundBlaster making scratchy noise

Last response: in Components

I just set up a new PC for my cousin with a Sound Blaster PCI... using an Asus A7V266 motherboard. Now it makes scratchy noises whenever playing some type of sound, I have tried both the windows driver and the driver from creative, the driver from creative just made it worse. I am wondering if I am doing somehting wrong here? There is no onboard audio for this motherboard either. Thanks for any help someone could provide regarding this issue.

Also, it won't make scratchy noises if I use something like a Sound Blaster Live! but unfortunatly I don't own one to give him anymore. If someone could help... thanks.

Try a different PCI slot, if that doesnt fix it thats as far as I would go trying.

Another sound card is probably your only option.
I recommend the M-Audio Revolution
