I just purchased two Logitech Quickcam 4000s, one for my parents, and one for my sister and her husband San Francisco, so that my parents could see their new grandson more often. The cameras seem to be of pretty good quality, however MSN Messenger seems very inadequate for live video. Both ends are running 512 Kbit/s uploads, 1 Mbit+ downloads (not sure what they have, we have 4 meg) and very fast systems; it seems as though a little 160x120 or 320x240 live video would be no problem over this connection (the webcam image lags no matter who I connect to on MSN Messenger, although my friends tell me it's a lot better than other images they've seen). The software that comes with the camera doesn't seem like it's any use, and I have to sign up for a Spotlife account anyway (which it doesn't want to let me do atm). What is a good free or inexpensive video chat client that will work with this camera?
