Your question

Which would be better?

I have recently bought a new MB (MSI NEO-2 LS) which has onboard sound. In the past I have always shunned onboard sound chips in favour of SBLive soundcards. Was I right?

Basically, what I would like to know is would I be better off (for performance, compatability and general all round smoothness :)  ) using my SBLive 5.1 Platinum or just staying with the onboard sound?

Or is there absolutely no difference?

Thanks.

Your SB is going to take a small tax off your CPU.
I'd say use the SB, even if it is a live. Unless you had Nforce audio, which you dont.

You wont have EAX/a3d support without using the SB.
If the SB starts causing issues with your system though, use the onboard of course..might take a while for those to start 'popping' up though.

I just tell it like it is and some can't handle it. If your experience is different, well congratu-fukulation.
