Does anyone know if the Sony DW-U14A is the OEM version of the DRU-510A? If so, is there any real difference other than the software?

How does the Sony DRU-510A compare to the Plextor 708A?

Yes, the DWU14A is the OEM version of the 510A drive. I have it and it's been working like a charm since I flashed the most current firmware (1.0d at the time). Note, you will have to find a hacked version of the firmware - but I've seen some people have even found a hack that will "trick" the drive into thinking it's the Sony 510A. Theoretically this would let you update your firmware directly from the sony site. Ciao!
